Congratulations on your decision to get a breast augmentation. Now that you’ve decided on getting breast implants, next comes the most important part; choosing which type, style, and size is right for you. Your surgeon will help you choose the right breast implant size by explaining all of your options and recommending a choice based on your specific desires and body type. I advise you to take your time, be informed and weigh all of your options. After all, you want to be happy with your decision for years to come.
Breast Implant Sizes
There are several considerations that have to be made when choosing the best breast implant size for you. In this article, I will explain the different options and how to choose the right implants. First, you have to pick the implant that will provide the amount of fullness and improved breast size that you are desiring. This is best done at your plastic surgeon’s office where you should be provided ample time to try on a myriad of implant styles, shapes, and sizes.
Breast implant sizes are available from 100 to 1000 cubic centimeters. One cubic centimeter is equal to one milliliter or about 0.3 ounces. The most common sizes range from 300 to 400 cc. They also differ in accordance with their diameter and height. With so many breast implant sizes to choose from, finding the right one is not always easy.
I recommend that you bring in a non-padded bra and a tight-fitting shirt so that you can see your silhouette when wearing your desired implant. Just remember that what you see during your implant sizing will ultimately look 3% to 5% smaller once the implant is placed inside of you. Thus, if you like what you see during your sizing, you may want to choose the next size up for your breast augmentation.
The next important consideration when choosing your breast implant size is to keep in mind that your nipples must be centered on your implant/new breast. Since the implant will rest on your inframammary crease (where the breast and chest meet) the ideal implant is determined by your inframammary crease to nipple distance and should have a radius (half the diameter) which matches your inframammary crease to nipple distance. This will ensure that your nipple will be centered on your implant and thus your breast mound.
